LASTMA
In an effort to get support of security agencies for the traffic officials of the Chief Executive Officer of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Chris Olakpe has said the agency is at the verge of stopping the discordant tunes, friction, suspicion and misunderstandings that characterised relationship between the military agents and traffic officials in Lagos.
Speaking during courtesy visits to the Commander of the Nigeria Air Force 551 Base Services Group, Ikeja, Air Commandor Musibau Olatunji and Commander of 9 Brigade, Nigeria Army Cantonment, Ikeja, Brigadier General Elias Attu Olakpe said the visits were to create greater understanding, cooperation, synergy and support between security officials and traffic officials of the Agency.
According to him, the synergy between the military and LASTMA would benefit all parties as free traffic roads would reduce motorists’ stressed and enhance security around the state.
With the new approach to traffic enforcement and management in the state, Olakpe stated that traffic officials are now to be civil and polite on duty, urging motorists and security personnel to cooperate with them.
He pleaded the public to approach the management to lodge complaint instead of attacking traffic personnel. Olakpe stressed that there were many areas of mutual interest and cooperation that the both agencies can explore for the growth and development of their personnel, especially in the area of traffic laws enlightenment and education.
Receiving the team, Attu assured of military support and cooperation in the enforcement of traffic laws in Lagos state. He expressed optimism that the visit would open a new vista in relationship between army and LASTMA.
